Nutrition, Food Security and Livelihoods
The world currently faces the largest humanitarian crisis since the United Nations was founded in 1945. In East Africa - Yemen, South Sudan, Kenya, Ethiopia, Nigeria and Somalia - 25 million people are at risk of starvation and famine. 30 percent of children under age five are suffering from acute malnutrition. Water sources have dried up and livestock lost there is nothing left to survive on - women and children walk for weeks in search of food and water.
Ethnovision provides lifesaving treatment for moderate and severe malnutrition. For those children who are severely malnourished with medical complications, our teams facilitate referrals to stabilisation centres for 24 hour a day care.
Outreach health workers prevent malnutrition by educating mothers and care takers in infant and young child feeding practices.
We use sustainable social enterprise models to improve women's livelihoods and health.
